Prime OS on EndeavourOS: Can it Run?

Prime OS on Endeavour OS:

Prime OS can be installed side by side with the Linux system. In the previous post on this blog, I discussed how to install Prime OS. At that time I tried it on Ubuntu, and the results were smooth. But in the comments column of my YouTube channel, there were some who complained about booting failure. I myself am not sure whether they followed the steps properly or just tried using a version that turned out to be incompatible. Because each person who fails has a different problem.

And this year, I use Endeavor OS as a daily driver for almost 1 year. I started using this Distro in July 2024 when i posted about this distro, and yeah ... it was posted by a user on the Endeavour OS forum and got some mixed comments, lol.

Back to the main topic:

Can Prime OS be installed and run on Endeavor OS?

The answer is: Yes!

I managed to install and run Prime OS on my PC. There was just a problem with the WiFi section. Maybe because when Prime OS was installed on the laptop, the WiFi device was immediately recognized, so there was no need to search manually. But on my PC, it wasn't detected automatically.

For installation on Endeavour OS (which is based on Arch Linux), the method is actually the same. I used a script that I had the chance to post on this blog, and I saved it in the system directory. I also tried installing it on another SSD that was mounted, but for some reason it wouldn't boot. Finally, I still used the old way: put it in the main file system.

The short steps:

Create folder on system with name primeos, then open the Prime OS ISO file (I used the primeos x86,  2.1.3). Inside primeos directory, create folder and give it name data. And copy the necessary files inside primeos.ISO (so the file content inside primeos directory is data(folder), install.img, kernel, system.sfs, initrd.img).

Create a boot menu.  I use Grub Customizer on EnOS (yay -S grub-customizer) to create a new boot entry. And paste the boot script in this post.

Save, reboot, then select the boot menu that was created via GRUB.

The result and PC Specification to Try this

I use EndeavorOS with Legacy mode on a PC with the following specifications:

Ryzen 5 5600G

16 GB RAM

The only problem right now is that WiFi is not automatically detected. But otherwise, Prime OS runs smoothly and enters the desktop without any problems.

Hope it helps!
