Kazam Screencaster, A Simple And Cool Screen Recording!

This time I want to try using a screen recording application, to record the activity while using the computer. And in this post, I will discuss one of the cool apps that you can use, namely Kazam Screencaster

Kazam Screencaster is one simple application that serves to record screen activity on Linux OS.

Is the app only available for Linux? Answer: When this article is published, Kazam is one of the only applications that can run on Linux distributions. Hopefully for the future, this application can be available on Windows or Mac.

For recording formats, can be exported to various formats, in addition users can also take screnshot via Kazam. Actually, this app is not a new app on linux, because, according to the info that I get, this app has not been getting any updates in this year.

But, this application runs very smoothly when I try on Ubuntu 18.04 which I currently use. Here is a simple video I recorded using Kazam:

To install it on Ubuntu 18.04 (or maybe also in other versions) You can follow the easy steps below! Open a terminal and type the following command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/stable-series

and press Enter when any some dialog about adding New PPA. Next

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install kazam

Wait for the installation process is complete, and please try!. Features thats available on Kazam Screencaster:

  • Supports export to .mp4, AVI, WEBM, and other video formats, and can set framerate.

  • Supports screenshot capture with/wihtout autosave.

  • Can be used to record in fullscreen, window mode, and area.

  • Supports recording by inputting audio at recording time or not. So, when in the recording there is audio is running, the voice will be recorded (record internal audio).

  • Supports recording using microphone. For those of you who like to create some video tutorials with your voice, you can use this feature.

  • Can show / hide mouse cursor.

  • Can show / hide mouse cursor on recordings.

  • There is a countdown timer feature before recording starts. This feature is very useful to prepare before entering into the recording process.

  • You can pause on the current recording, and resume it.

Although Kazam is an application with a small size, but has a lot of features, as I write in the points above. That is a little post about this app. May be useful.
