How To Install Phoenix OS On Ubuntu 18.04?

Good morning readers, this time I want to give you an information about how to install Phoenix OS dual boot with Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver. This method is successfully used on 32-bit Ubuntu with Phoenix OS 1.5.0 / 2.2.1.

Phoenix OS (POS) is an operating system based on android for PC devices. This operating system is still new and continues to develop. Many people use Phoenix OS for mobile gaming that is played with computers.

Steps to install Phoenix OS on Ubuntu 18.04:

Prepare the installer from phoenix OS (in this experiment, I use Phoenix OS version 2.2.1 for 32-bit)

Please Download and install Grub Customizer, to install it can read the article "how to install Grub Customizer".

Create a folder with the "phoenix"(without quotes) name in the file system directory (Must be a superuser with root access). Next, copy some files according to the image below, into the phoenix folder you have created:

Phoenix OS 2.2.1 iso file

Create a Data drive using the following commands:

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/phoenix/data.img bs=1M count=32768
Wait for the process to complete. Data drives serve to create a special space that we will use to install and run Phoenix OS. After the process of making data.img is complete and not error, please type the command below:

sudo mkfs.ext4 /phoenix/data.img

And wait until the process is complete without any error.

Next, create the Phoenix OS boot menu in Grub Customizer by clicking on the entry editor menu (the paper icon with the + sign at the top right), give name "Phoenix OS", without the quotes mark. And copy the script below:

insmod part_gpt
search --file --no-floppy --set=root /phoenix/system.sfs
linux /phoenix/kernel root=/dev/ram0 androidboot.hardware=android_x86 SRC=phoenix/
initrd /phoenix/initrd.img

Make Phoenix OS booting menu on Grub Customizer

Click OK and select save to save the Grub Customizer setting. Next reboot the computer and on the boot menu, choose Phoenix OS. if successful, will enter on the Phoenix OS view.

Phoenix OS has advantages and disadvantages, I write in the following points!

Advantages of Phoenix OS:

  • Can be installed on 32-bit and 64-bit devices, but both have different versions and updates.

  • Can run applications, for example android mobile games to play on Computer.

  • Browsing activity using the default browser is quite smooth because it is designed specifically for Desktop display.

  • The installer is available in .exe format, so for you windows users who are not familiar with partition separation, can install Phoenix using the Installer that is packaged in .exe.

  • It's still updated up to now (though more frequent updates are the 64-bit version)

Disadvantages of Phoenix OS:

  • Many apps in playstore are not yet compatible or running smoothly especially in game apps (each version has different issues).

  • There are still many bugs.

  • On certain computer devices, can cause overheating at the time of doing activities that burden the operating system.
